Shimlan, Lebanon, 2009

This house is designed to nestle under the pine trees and look out onto the beautiful views. It is also designed to be easily flexible, expanding from a cozy one bedroom weekend flat to a six bedroom house to accommodate three more families in summer.

The public spaces of the house are all interconnected and open out onto the terraces that give directly to the gardens. The key to the design was the preservation of the forest.

The house was sited in between the trees and immersed in the land which in turn absorbed the scale of the house.
