Fayyum, Egypt, 2001
This project celebrates its site with outdoor rooms, porticos and enclosed gardens of various scales and orientations that provide enjoyment of the place at different times of the day and the different seasons of the year. The house is carefully oriented to be protected from the Western sun and to catch the breeze in all of its living rooms. Projected eaves and pergolas shade the walls from direct sun and the rendered walls are given the color of the earth to blend the house with its site. Area: 1200 sq. m.
